We are very proud that the UWE Formula Student team made it through to this year's qualifiers of the prestigious annual race, for the first time.

Morgan GRP are happy to be  sponsors of the Bristol-based team, which impressed the crowds at Silverstone during the annual gathering of petrol-heads on July 13th.

But the challenge for UWE began long before they took to the track in their eye-catching two-seater, which sported a red and black shark design.

The demanding project sees students from many disciplines across the university draw up plans for their vehicle, before engineering, machining and constructing the racing car,  and putting it through its paces in a long testing process.

Martyn Ingram, Group Managing Director, said he was delighted to see them race to success in the qualifiers: “The UWE team has shown real ingenuity and skill from the very start of this project and I am pleased to see them get through to the qualifying rounds.

“Of course schemes like these aren’t just about the enjoyment of the event, they are also a testing ground for the engineers, the designers and the manufacturers of the future, helping them hone their skills and their problem-solving abilities on a real-life projects. It has been fascinating to see how they have risen to those challenges.

“Everyone at Morgan Marine Group wishes them even greater success at Silverstone next year. I'm sure they already have plans in the pipeline for the 2016 vehicle!"
